New-build three-bedroom eco-bungalow in Hambrook, South Gloucestershire. This project (currently in its infancy) is located on an acre plot next to a river within the greenbelt. The client’s vision is to create a building that will be nearly self-sufficient and carbon neutral. By positioning the dwelling into the bank and burying it under soil, the house will maintain an internal temperature throughout the year of 12°C. Ground-source heat pumps, grey water harvesting and photovoltaic panels will help reduce the building’s reliance on carbon. The building will use stone found on site to create a seamless reading of the surrounding context.
