St. James’s Listed Building Renovation, SW1

A refurbishment of a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse off Pall Mall, in the heart of St James’s, Westminster. The five-storey building had fallen into disrepair, and the brief was to bring it back as high-end offices that feel more like a home than a corporate space.

The work was led by conservation. The Adamesque ceiling mouldings were restored, along with the spiral stair that winds up beneath a roof lantern, and new hand-blown heritage glass was used to match the original craftsmanship. Longstanding damp was resolved and the tired fabric carefully revived, with every period feature retained intact.

Working within the tight proportions typical of an early Georgian house, the design sets contemporary detail against the restored interior so the two sit comfortably together. The result is a bespoke five-floor workspace that keeps the character of the original building.
